With a huge injection of $6.5 billion the Dominican Republic's East Coast has been transformed and is now considered to be a world-class golf destination. The vision at work is to create an upscale golfer's paradise. New courses are planned and will segue nicely with a dozen or so already well-loved golf courses.

Casa de Campo has it all-- a tennis facility, a shooting club, polo, saddle horses, a marina, movie theatres, and its famous course by Pete Dye. The newest course at this resort, the Dye Fore features a 300-foot river deep gorge. It is set back from the ocean cliffs and has beautiful views of the mountains in the distance.

La Estancia on the Rio Chavon is at the La Estancia Golf Resort and is just a short 20 minute drive from Casa de Campo. The very creative P. B. Dye designed it. He takes advantage of the natural landscape, using the cliffs of the Chavon River. Only costing $90 for the winter season, it is an incredible bargain.

Tom Fazio designed Puntacana Resort and Club. A unique feature is that you'll find the clubhouse on the beach.

Jack Nicklaus Courses in the Dominican Republic

  • Punta Espada is managed by Troon Golf. Golf week ranked it the best course in the Caribbean and Mexico. This course is considered to be one of the world's finest. It hosted the PGA Tour’s Champions Tour in April 2008.
  • Las Iguanas is a Signature Jack Nicklaus golf course.
  • Cap Cana opened in 2007 to stellar reviews. It will be host to a Champions Tour event.

Teeth of the Dog is designed by Pete Dye and for over 30 years it has been considered to be the top golf course in the Caribbean. It is a true golf getaway destination. The terrain feels lush, even primordial. The area has been a filming location for Apocalypse Now.

The new Faldo Legacy Course recently opened at made the Westin Roco Ki in Punta Cana.
